This was an incredible week to demonstrate the power of the New York Worker Center Federation (WCF).
#LiftTheCaps: WCF members including DRUM, El Centro, DRUM, ROC NY, and Enlace came out to a powerful press conference announcing #LiftTheCaps legislation. This week we packed the room to testify before city council to denounce the criminalization of workers and support the #LiftTheCaps bill.
#WeAreVisible: WCF members including LWC, NICE, ROC NY, and Enlace participated in, and supported, a direct action to shut down the George Washington Bridge to uplift the struggle and voices of immigrants.
Wal-Mart and Trump: WCF members including RAP and Enlace participated in an action to pressure Wal-Mart to cut ties with Donald Trump.
The WCF is building a movement led by immigrant workers. This is just a glimpse into one week of the movement built through our Delfino Leadership Institute where workers are forming deep transformative relationships. Read about our recent session that focused on how through gender justice we can resist state and corporate violence.
We are the ones we have been waiting for.
